Power Grid Corporation of India is planning to upgrade its power transmission network in Gujarat. The project involves increasing the number of Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations to 12 from the existing 5, increasing the transmission capacity to 19,000 mega volt ampere (MVA) from the existing 4,000 MVA and expanding the transmission lines from 5,610 kms to 7,575 kms. As of June 2014, the project is in the planning stage.
