PPN Power Generating Company is planning to set up a 160 MW coal-fired power station adjoining its existing 330.5 MW gas based power plant in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu. In order to fuel the proposed coal based power plant, the company has planned to import coal from Indonesia and other sources, while it would also explore the option of blending imported coal with 50% petroleum coke. As of August 2014, work on the project is yet to commence.
